Right, so for the past 3 hours I have been attempting to do some kind of tutorial but it just ended up being an absolute disaster. It was too many ‘you need to do this. Well, unless you want it to look like this in which case you could do this, this or this. And that’s only if you now how to do this.’ (All the this’ in that scenario being seperate mini tutorials).

Basically, those kind of gifs aren’t just a straightforward tutorial so all I can offer is some tips I guess. Most of this I just picked up while messing around in photoshop or reading random tutorials and forgetting about them until now or just making a mistake and deciding it looked okay. SO. Having said that, I had a looksie for some helpful tutorials and you should check out these:

^they’re the basic ones. It’s a lot of layers (I mean in the hundreds for some of the gifs), a lot of looking for stock images and shapes, making sure everything lines up right and making sure you’re doing it on the right layer. It’s really just different for every gif you do so. It’s kinda fiddly sometimes but once you get going it’s enjoyable and it can take a looooooong time but once you have the basic skills, just put them together, and then just have patience. Lots and lots of patience.

anon1 & rainyglows: It’s called Skinny.

grapefruitonline & anon2: You need to make two seperate gifs (colour & cut them etc.) and then copy and paste the frames from the smaller gif onto the larger gif. So if you were doing the first gif the anon linked to you would:

  • colour both gifs
  • cut the charming gif into whatever shape you want it to be
  • select all and copy frames
  • paste on top of snow white gif and place where you want
  • tip: both gifs need to be the same number of frames long
